Museum Services

Self Evaluation Work Plan

This section examines accessible practices in ensuring that museum exhibits and materials are available to persons with disabilities.

Ensure that museum employees have guidance regarding how to make and provide accessible museum materials.

2. Provide training to museum employees on how to assist variously disabled museum visitors.

3. In order to facilitate maximum accessibility, incorporate alternative forms of communication for exhibits, e.g. audio-descriptors, braille, large print text, tactile exhibits, and/or haptic technology.

4. Ensure that digital interfaces at the museum-film showings, kiosks, etc- are accessible.

  • Contact the Web Access department if you have kiosks or other digital interfaces so they can conduct a review of the equipment;

6. Where printed materials are offered to museum visitors, be prepared to provide alternative formats for blind or visually impaired people.
