ASL Video Remote Interpreter Checklist

Event planners and schedulers may receive a request for a reasonable accommodation like an American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter for a web conference or meeting.  We can assist by connecting you with an existing university vendor able to deliver ASL Video Remote Interpretation.

  1. Submit a completed Communications Request form to DAC. (The more complete the information, the better we can secure services. If there are issues acquiring the Web Conferencing address, contact Dr. Derek Coates at dcoates@berkeley.edu). If the event does not have a Zoom/URL link, our captioning vendors can provide a link for you.
  2. Confirm the Web Conference host has contact information necessary to grant video camera access to ASL interpreter when they sign-on to the meeting. (Interpreters generally contact the person the Communications Request indicated was the recipient of the services.  If there is no recipient, interpreters will contact the person you indicated was the on-site contact if there are any connection issues.)
  3. Confirm ASL Interpreter is able to be viewed in the meeting.
  4. Confirm that the recipient of the services is able to view the interpreter.
