Building Directories

A Building Directory is a diagram that shows the layout of each floor of a building and are posted throughout a building to help people navigate and locate specific destinations inside the facility. They include the room numbers for each room on the floor for which they are designed, highlight restrooms and water fountains, and show emergency evacuation routes and features. Again, they are posted throughout each building, and will contain specific indications useful to each individual floor.

Here’s a sample building directory from Wheeler Hall’s 1st floor:

Each campus building will feature, at a minimum, emergency evacuation features, restrooms, room numbers, elevators, and stairwells. With that said, the exact symbols used in any given directory might vary from the example above.
