Disability Management Services

In addition to coordinating the Workers' Compensation program for the campus, Disability Management provides services to reduce the human and fiscal cost of workplace disability.

The Staff Alliance for Disability Access (SADA) is a collaborative and supportive campus staff organization that addresses the needs of UC Berkeley staff members with disabilities.

Job Accommodations Network

The Job Accommodation Network (JAN) is the leading source of free, expert, and confidential guidance on workplace accommodations and disability employment issues. Working toward practical solutions that benefit both employer and employee, JAN helps people with disabilities enhance their employability, and shows employers how to capitalize on the value and talent that people with disabilities add to the workplace.

Reasonable Accommodation and the Interactive Process

Berkeley Human Resources outlines Interactive Process procedures on reasonable accommodation, in order to provide employees access to perform the essential assigned duties of their position. The campus will explore reasonable accommodation options when an employee requests accommodation, or there is evidence that an employee may need accommodation due to a covered disability. These procedures also describe the accommodation interactive process of which employees, employers, and departments are required to engage in.

Employee Assistance Program

Located at University Health Services, the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) offers support in a wide range of issues, including but not limited to: Work-related stress, mental illness, addiction, elder care, family problems, and training.

Staff Ombuds Office

The Staff Ombuds Office provides a safe place for employees to discuss and clarify concerns, identify options, and create problem-solving strategies to resolve workplace conflict.
